Most athletes who enter a multi-day alpine stage race do one of two things: they follow a generic trail plan that wasn't built for back-to-back days, or they wing it and hope their fitness carries them through.
Some get away with it. A lot don't.
The Southern Lakes Ultra is 6 stages across some of the most demanding terrain in Central Otago. It rewards athletes who've trained specifically for what it asks, not just athletes who've run a lot.
I'm Isobel Tait. I'm a performance coach, I've raced at the Barkley Marathons three times, represented Australia at the World Long Distance Mountain Running Championships 3 times, and I'll be on the startline at SLU in February 2027.
I'm taking a small group of athletes with me: coached, prepared, and ready.
A periodised training plan via VDOT Built around your current fitness and the time you have available. Updated monthly as the race approaches. Three tiers (low, medium and high mileage) so your plan reflects your actual life, not an idealised version of it.
Monthly group call, 75 minutes, recorded. Each month covers a specific topic tied to where you are in the training arc: base building, race nutrition, back-to-back days, taper, race week. Live Q&A in the second half. Miss it? The recording is yours.
Private SLU group on Kollab. A dedicated space for the cohort with weekly check-in threads, training chat, race logistics, and the kind of conversation that only happens when everyone is preparing for the same thing. I drop in regularly. So does the group.
Weekly group Loom. Every week I record a short video for the cohort: what the training week looks like, what to watch for, adjustments if needed. It's not a generic update. It's specific to where we are in the program.
Access to the Peak Endurance content library. Ultra Mindset Lab sessions, athlete webinar sessions and recordings, and educational content from the broader Peak Endurance community. Included from day one.
A Peak Endurance t-shirt. Because you're part of the team now.

This program is for you if:
- You've entered SLU 2027 or you're seriously considering it
- You've got some ultra running under your belt and you know what a hard race actually feels like
- You're time-poor and need a plan that fits real life, not a training fantasy
- You've done your prep solo before and you know something's been missing
- You want to arrive at the startline knowing you've done it properly
This program is not for you if:
- You're completely new to trail or ultra running
- You're looking for the same level of individual attention as 1:1 coaching (that's a different offer: book a call if that's what you need)
- You're not actually committed to racing SLU in February 2027

$80 setup fee on enrolment, includes your onboarding to the VDOT app
$50 per week from Monday 17th August 2026 (program start date) to race week, February 2027 Billed weekly via Stripe.
Cancel anytime, though I'll be honest, the athletes who stay the full 6 months are the ones who will show up to the startline ready for the race of their life!
That's not a marketing line. It's the number I can coach properly as a solo operator while still preparing for the race myself. When those spots are gone, they're gone.
Applications are reviewed individually. I want to make sure this is genuinely the right fit for you before we commit to 6 months together.

"I've only had great experiences with Peak Endurance Coaching"
"I've only had great experiences with Peak Endurance Coaching, particularly working with Isobel. One of the biggest benefits has been her help in addressing an ongoing issue with shin pain which had been affecting my running constantly for 6 months. Through her knowledge, guidance, and careful programming, I've been able to manage the problem far more effectively and continue training with confidence. Isobel creates well-structured and personalised running programs that are both challenging and achievable. She takes the headache out of planning and makes your life easier as a busy runner."

"Isobel knows her stuff."
"Isobel and her team at Peak Endurance Coaching know their stuff. Ever since I started training with Isobel I have not had an injury or DNF. Nothing is ever too much trouble and I am in touch with her on a weekly basis. Highly recommend Peak Endurance Coaching."

"I wish I'd signed up sooner."
"I've been an athlete with PEC for a few months now, and l've been improving so much, both physically and mentally! It isn't just a training plan, it a wealth of knowledge from Isobel and an active community helping each other out. I wish l'd signed up sooner!"
